A symbol of unity in diversity giving a common destiny; sharing; from the proverb, “Funtumfrafu denkyemfrafu, wowo yafunu koro nanso wonya biribi a wofom efiri se aduane no de no yete no wo menetwitwie mu”. Funtumfrafu and Denkyemfrafu share a stomach but when they get something (food) they strive over it because the sweetness of the food is felt as it passes through the throat.
The siamese crocodiles have one stomach yet they fight over food when eating.
Background
The stomach of the crocodile is likened to a common purpose and a goal, as in a democratic governance where divergent views are expressed and well debated to formulate good policies. The people of “disagreeing to agree” applies in this sense. The symbol signifies the unification of people of different cultural settings for achieving common objectives despite their divergent views and opinion about the way of life.
Moral Value
This symbol stresses the importance of democracy in all aspect of life. It also encourages oneness of purpose. It therefore discourages tribalism. This is a symbol of democracy and unity in diversity.
